This process has been full of challenges, which around Granger Community Church, means opportunities. Many opportunities.
One of the first challenges was to clarify the win (practice number one). As I already mentioned in part 2, I'm going to share more about the win(s) identified by our senior management team in the next few weeks. In the mean time here are some questions we explored as we wrestled with our win(s):
- How will everyone understand the win? Those who are still kicking the tires, checking out the claims of Christ in our faith community, as well as members who've been following Jesus for a very long time. How will staff and volunteers understand the win? It must be simple and inclusive for everyone.
- How will we - the senior team - understand the win? Is our win different than the win of our people? It shouldn't be.
- How will we communicate the win? It must be clear and concise. Simple and able to be passed on from person to person with the same clarity as first communicated.
- How will our people own the win? This can't be - "we've descended from the mountain with the engraved tablet of 'the win'". We all own this or nobody wins.
- How will we measure the win? We must be able to read a "scorecard" at some point. What does that look like? How do we review, assess and communicate our approach to the win?
Several other churches and leaders are or have worked through these practices. How did you or are you exploring this first key practice? Where have you landed regarding win(s) for your ministry or organization?
