It's about Time... for a Winner

Some time ago - before the recent Waltz Family Get-away - I posted the picture below, inviting you to caption the picture. I promised the winner a magnificent prize.

There were some great responses - funny responses (see them here)! After much deliberation with the judges (me), I find myself torn between these finalists:

  • "Jesus saves here."  This is a great play on words... double meaning. Simple.
  • "Your offering is safe with us."  People feel they can't trust the church because of all the money scandals. Nice play on words.
  • "Some were a little miffed when the stewardship committee took over the church."  Classic. Way too telling of too many churches in America. A great exaggeration of what happens when the bookkeeper / treasurer runs the church, rather than serves its mission.
  • "Because MONEY matters!"  Another great play on words. Even mockery of the mantra of this site. Daring and bold. I like it.

I'm not a black and white kind of guy... grayish is more my style. So, in keeping with the prompt timeliness of this contest and the clear decisiveness in choosing, I'm going with 2 winners:

Now, gentlemen, here's the prize: your choice of my book, First Impressions: Creating Wow Experiences in Your Church OR Tim Stevens and Tony Morgan's book, Simply Strategic Volunteers. And there is no "right" answer. Either book is a fine selection. Have them both? Pass it on to a friend. Rich and Jeff - email me from this page, tell me which book and where to send it.

Thanks for playing along... see you next time on "Caption that Photo".
